Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 12 Blog Tour

Yippee!! This is my very first time in the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Blog Tour. The magazine hits newsstands today! I love 100 Block's magazine.  I think I have them all LOL.  Having 100 designs in each issue, there is definitely something for everyone.  Every technique you can think of and something for every level of quilter.

I have been quilting for about 4 years.  As my blog name states, I am a little crazy.  I have all kinds of crazy ideas "swimming" around in my head.  I received EQ7 as a gift from my husband and I was playing around with different shapes and all of a sudden one looked like a fish to me.  So, I got a crazy idea to have two fishies kissing.  Then I thought, Hey what about a crab looking up at the smooching couple.  So, here is is my block design.  You can find it on page 31, block #1148.

Thank You Quiltmaker for allowing me to share with everyone.  Here it is again using different fabrics.

You know I said before that I was crazy right?  Well, check this out.  I was trying to think of a quilt I could design from this fish block. I thought this block represents a big ocean with lots of sea creatures. Why not zoom out from the fish and see who else is watching the scene.
Here is the design in EQ7.

Ha ha! It looks like we have a seahorse, jelly fish, clam, starfish, and lastly a bird dipping his head in for a view.
Here is the finished quilt!  The quilt is on page 78.

The quilt was pieced by me and quilted by QuiltLizzy.  Thank You for hopping by and if you would like, you can follow me.  I need someone to talk to ha ha.

Now for a Giveaway!

Quiltmaker is the sponsor and they are giving away a free copy of this magazine. Shipping anywhere! In order for a chance to win just leave a comment below.  I will randomly select a winner at the end of the hop.

Check into the hop each day for more chances and to see other wonderful designs from other blogs.

Christmas Is In My Heart! Giveaway Too!!

Hi everyone!  First let me give a big shout out to Marina at Seams to be Sew for once again coordinating all the fun.  Thanks again to Fat Quarter Shop, they are giving away a $25.00 gift certificate each day of the hop. You can sign up for a chance to win at any blog that is showing the entry box.  Just leave a comment at each blog for an entry. Be sure to check out Christmas is in My Heart blog hop every day.

Well for me Jesus is the Reason for the Season.  When I thought about the title Christmas is in your Heart, He was the first thing I thought of.  I decided I would again do a thread art wall hanging.  I searched for a picture to use from the internet and came up with this one.

I saved the picture to my computer and then used a free online tool that will change pictures to sketches.  Photo 2 Sketch  You can upload any photo you would like to change to a sketch.  I then blew up the picture and printed it off in 4 separate 8 1/2 x 11 pieces and taped them together to complete the larger size.  I used a light box and #2 pencil to trace the major component lines onto muslin fabric.  I am very happy with the way it turned out.

I used black thread to free motion embroidery all of the details and then used colored pencils to add color.  Finally, I used clear textile medium and a small paint brush and brushed the entire drawing, let it dry, and heat set with an iron. I had a fat quarter sitting around that always reminded me of stained glass.  I thought it would be perfect for the border.

Jesus has blessed me and my family so much.  My days have not always been perfect. I have learned and will continue to learn when going through difficult times. I am a cancer survivor and there are many other not so fun stories in my life but, I "know" He has always been by my side and even carried me through any hard times.  Thank YOU Lord!!!  I hope however you celebrate this time of year that you have a wonderful blessed holiday!  Big HUGS to you all!

Thanks to the Fat Quarter Shop "I" WON a $25.00 gift certificate during the Halloween Hop.  Check out what I got :)  Wha-hoo Downton Abbey Fat Quarters.  The show is ending whaaaaaaa.

Halloween Haunts 2015 & GIVEAWAYS!!!

BOO! Welcome to day 2 of the Halloween Haunts blog hop.  Thanks to Marian at Seamstobesew for bringing us all together.  Thanks to Fat Quarter Shop, they are giving away a $25.00 gift certificate each day of the hop. You can sign up for a chance to win at any blog that is showing the entry box. Be sure to check out Halloween Haunts hop every day.

All giveaways start at midnight est Rafflecopter Time and end at 11:59 pm est Rafflecopter Time.

First I would like to share with you a table runner that I designed. I am happy with the way it turned out, I think it is boo-rrific.

The center block was a design from a child's coloring book that I purchased at the $1 store.  I used painters tape to stick it to the top of the fabric and then used black thread and sewed right on top of the lines.  After it was all stitched I tore the paper away like you would with FPP.  I then stitched back over the lines with another layer of black thread.  Next I did free motion embroidery to color in the pumpkin and parts of the mouse.  Finally in that block I used colored pencils to add more color.  I wasn't sure what to do next so I added an orange border and used an Anita Good Design pattern for the pumpkins around the center block.

Then I had an idea to applique a bat, moon, and star that is in the fabric pattern.

Lastly, I hand embroidered Boo! and a couple of small stars : )

When Halloween is over I can just flip it to the other side for some Fall Stripes!

I have been making a lot of amigurumi lately and here are my most recent little guys.  Daddy, Mama, and Baby Bat! Thanks to my TTMT friend Snowie.  She shared this pattern with us last week from Lucy Ravenscar she has many interesting patterns. You should check out her site too!

FREE Pattern - Christmas in July and TTMT #1

Long time no blog. So, here is what I have been up to.  I was a block tester for Quiltmaker's 100 block volume 11. It was fun to try out all the new blocks, check out my Thank You gifts from Quiltmaker's!

If you “like” their facebook page you can keep an eye out for their requests to become a tester yourself. Openings fill up quickly so you need to volunteer as soon as they post the request. I am now testing blocks for Volume 12 due out November 2015. Guess what…One of my block designs has been accepted for the same issue too, Yahoo! So, now I am an official designer ;) I am also working on a quilt from that block which may be pictured in the magazine. Here is a sneak peak of the quilt...this block pattern is NOT in the magazine.

Besides quilting I have been doing a lot of crochet for the little ones in the family. Here are Easter gifts for the girls, and my nephew. (again long time no blog LOL)

I am a member of Crafty Gemini Quilt Club and she had a live web cam showing how to make these baskets.  I didn't add the handles.

Now for Christmas in July. Have you heard the song “all I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth?” That one can get stuck in your head. Anyway, my granddaughters keep losing teeth lately so I designed this block.

Looks like Cali with her 2 front teeth missing ha ha. Click here for the free pattern or use the tab at the top “Free Patterns” You could easily change the hair to make a little boy too. I hope you enjoy. If you do make anything with any of my patterns I would love to see pictures and/or get feedback good or bad. That would help me to improve my pattern making skills in the future.  I am have joined the Talk to me Tuesday live journal community and will be posting videos each week.   Here is my first ever video Yikes!!

Until, next time have a Kwilt Krazy Day!

11 Years Cancer Free!

First off I would like to Thank the Lord Jesus Christ that I am here today to be apart of the "We Support You" blog hop.  October 2003, at the age of 35 I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Because of my age and cancer type I had a radical mastectomy and underwent a clinical trial treatment of chemotherapy.  What normally would be a 16 week treatment was upped to a double dose in an 8 week period. I was engaged to be married and we decided to have a shotgun wedding before I lost my hair. I am now 46 and totally cancer free.  I had my last appointment with my oncologist a year ago.  I have to say that SUPPORT is what helps us all.  My whole family came to stay with us for several weeks to SUPPORT me.  I was blessed to have co-workers to SUPPORT me too. One thing that was helpful to me were a couple of stuffed ducks that my mother-in-law gave me.  After surgery it was very painful to lift my right arm.  I had to keep my arm elevated and these little ducks were a nice SUPPORT.

Sadly my mother-in-law is no longer with us.  She died of cervical cancer not too long ago.  Unfortunately we all know someone who has had or currently has this terrible disease.  SUPPORT is the best we can do! In thinking of the SUPPORT I needed for my arm I decided to make this pillow. I used some vintage doilies for the bra fabric and a little reverse applique for the red accents. I am pleased with the way it turned out.  I think I will donate it to someone that I know that was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Thank You Madame Samm for this unique pattern.

I found this excellent website for anyone wanting to learn more. There are many types and stages of breast cancer and this is a good resource.  My prayers go out to anyone and everyone that has "any" type of cancer.  Thank You to Pat for being our Cheerleader and to Madame Samm for this hop!  Please visit the other ladies that are showing their SUPPORT!

Mandy Helps in the Sewing Room

I love my little helper!  Nice to have a buddy by my side.
Sometimes she does get in my way.  When I am trying to design using EQ7.  That's when she wants to lay on the keyboard or walk around right in front of the screen. Back and forth rubbing her tail in my face. Other times I am like "Hey, do you mind if I use that fabric you are lying on. She is a great protector of my books and magazine.
As long as they are on the shelf.  However, if I sit on the couch and try to look through one she likes to jump up and try to scratch at the pages as I turn them.  As I found out this weekend she apparently likes paper piecing too LOL.
I would show you what I am working on but then I would have to kill you.  ha ha...I am testing a block for Quiltmaker 100 blocks.  Do you have any helpers in your crafting room?  Have a Kwilt Krazy day!

Try as I might

Well, well I could give you all my excuses even though they are legit I won't bore you with them, other than to say I just got overwhelmed.  I started my cross stitching in mid December right in the middle of trying to get three quilts completed for Christmas gifts. I bought the Q Snap frame and it is sew much easier to deal with than the round hoops. As far as the stitching progress goes, I began with 28 count Aida and found out fairly soon that I was too new at cross stitching to use the smaller count. So, I ordered 14 count and started again.   My husband surprised me with the Beam & Read as one of my Christmas gifts. So, after work I sat on the couch and stitched while he watched tv.  Nice light that doesn't bother others around you. I see many of you ladies have done so much and you all are such an inspiration.  I still would like to share my progress so far.

Here is my stitching.

I did finish the pinny using Cori's pattern.  One of my circles was too small and when I pulled on the thread it became a yo yo so I decided to use it on the front of the pinny and I added a bead to the center.
I found these wonderful handles at Thearica'sshop Crazy Quilting Supplies

I love the cute designs so I bought more than one for future tammy bags ;) Check out the cute smiley hands.
I have the outside (except for the cross stitch), complete and the inside is complete too. Put your rose colored glasses on and imagine it all put together. I can't wait....so I guess I need to get stitching.

Thanks so much to Brooke Nolan for the cross stitch patterns, Cori Blunt for the Pinny Patterns, Mary for being our wonderful cheerleader and as alwas, Madam Samme. I know I will be pleased with my cross stitched Tammy once I am finished but I didn't want to rush and really mess it up.
Check out the other posts today! I am sure they will have some real beauties. COMPLETE beauties!
