First a shout out to Carol for cheering us on. Thanks sew much! As always a big Thanks to Madame Samm for all that she does to bring us all together. I did this backwards this is my second project. (tell you why in a minute) I really had to RUSH to get this second one done. (because of my mistake) I got the pattern from Sew it Today magazine.
Using the rear view mirror to put
on her mascara. Yes, I have seen that
too many times. Notice the old man in her rearview mirror is not very pleased with her
either “well la de freakin da”
ha ha that still makes me laugh. The semi truck in front is Rushing to deliver
Rush Hour fabric to all J
I am sew happy with the way it turned out.
(now for my embarrassing confession)
The next project I actually started first. Apparently I can't read. I didn't understand "only" red, black, white, grey. Since I spent a lot of time on this I decided to share anyway. It has other colors in it but I also used some rush hour fabric. So, imagine you are in the car with this
woman. You are on the way to work and there is bumper to bumper traffic. What is she
doing?
Don't forget to check out all the other Rush Hour posts today!

Kwilt Krazy That's Me ;)
Your quilt is lovely, but your rearview mirror is a hoot! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove your Rush hour quilt. Love the white sashing around the blocks. Your Rush Hour Lady is a kick. I have seen many putting on makeup while in the car. If I tried that, I would have mascara from my forehead to my chin and everywhere in between. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour lady just cracked me up! I love the baby in the back and all the little details...too funny! Your Rush Hour quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, you are a creative one. That lady in the rear view mirror cracks me up. So many little details, you really make me giggle. Your Rush Hour quilt is so pretty. How can you go wrong with that?
ReplyDeleteYour Rush Hour quilt is beautiful, but the Rush Hour lady and her car tableau is terrific!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is gorgeous. But your little scene of rush hour made me laugh out loud! Don't hang it by a door, though....you might not make it out on time....it is just too funny!
ReplyDeleteVery lovely quilt - like the lay out. And your little piece is very clever!

ReplyDeleteVery nice kwilt and all your creativity just sparkles!
ReplyDeleteLOl your first quilt is so right on, I see way too many women putting on makeup in the car. and your second quilt is very pretty too. love all the red, black and white.
ReplyDeleteOh you HAD to share that 1st project! As cute as your quilt is, the 1st is far more clever and original! Well done and thanks or the smile.

ReplyDeleteFunny, very funny! Lovely quilt too :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the rearview mirror!!!! So true!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful too.
Love your "Rush Hour" quilt. And I must say...I am so glad you don't follow directions any better than me some days! LOL. Your Rearview Mirror quiltie is just delightful. I just got the biggest kick out of it this morning. It reminded me on my neighbor girl who had to have been your model. She drove at warp speed with her little ones standing up in the back seat all the time. It drove me crazy. I love your creativity!
ReplyDeleteWell Now! Isn't that second project just the truth!!! I am laughing over here!!! Soooo Cute!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd that quilt...It is GORGEOUS! You NEVER disappoint! That is for sure!
Both of your projects turned out wonderfully. Your Rush Hour quilt made me laugh out loud and I so needed that right now. Thanks for sharing your awesome creations with us today!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. And that driver sure gets around. I see her all over the place. I have also seen men shaving (electric razor), people reading maps or other paper work while driving (in motion), and of course the cell phone dialers and worse, texters.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt turned out lovely. Perfect pattern to showcase those colors. Your little wall hanging is a hoot. I would feel just like the man in the car behind her. LOL
ReplyDeleteLove both of your projects. The appliqué quilt is so funny, but I have seen people do all sorts of things while driving. It's scary at times.
ReplyDeleteI like how you used the selvage identifier ~ what a great idea, and so cute on your semi! Like-Like-Like your original artsy quilt design. Upstages your second one. Thanks for sharing a smile for us today! Kathleen ~ Lane Hill House lanehillhouse[at]centurylink[dot]net
ReplyDeleteI would not want to be in the car with a woman who is putting on her makeup...she is cruising for a rear-ender for sure. Glad the child is in a car seat.
ReplyDeleteBoth projects are great. The original project is sooo creative and so true. When I traveled in rush hour it was amazing to me to see the things people were doing but putting on makeup was the most common, especially among the women. Not me though, it took my total concentration to get to work and home safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteYour red & white quilt is beautiful. Very imaginative lady who unfortunately is found driving too many cars.
ReplyDeleteYour Rush Hour "True Life" quilt is absolutely right on and really tells the tale of how people are in Rush Hour traffic. Unbelievable the things I see even now days. Lovely quilt you also created. Thank you sew very much for sharing and hopping. Creative Rush Hour Bliss...
ReplyDeleteLoved both of your projects. The lady putting on her mascara brought a smile to my face. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteTwo so very different quilts. I love them both. Very creative road scene.
ReplyDeleteVery creative. You did a great job on your projects.
ReplyDeleteHi there, I really like your red, black and gray quilt because we usually think of blocks instead of rectangles and I really like it. But your picture art of the car, rear view mirror, make-up and old guy....it just ROCKS! Thanks for posting it because it made me laugh :)
ReplyDeletevery creative. the quilt came out great.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I love your lady! Hahaha. Man oh man, the things people do when they're driving - sheesh!
ReplyDeleteSo funny...I have a friend who was stopped by the police one day for putting on mascara in the car on her way to work. The problem was she was a teacher and he pulled her over right in front of a school bus bull of her kids. :) blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteHow cute #1 is even if it is with other colors. It is amazing what people do 'in their cars'! Great quilt - I like it's simplicity.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your quilt. It is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Great job on the mini quilt. I would probably poke the mascara brush in my eye if I tried that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've seen that one too - scary!! You really depicted what rush hour looks like - I'm so glad you opted to show it!! I really like the sign on the truck :) Love your quilt too - you whipped that puppy out in record time and it is fab!!
ReplyDeleteLove the rush hour picture - made me smile.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt if beautiful, I will never get tired of those colors. Your lady, oh so cute...and yes, I seen that already. People do the craziest things while driving. That is why you must pay attention. You sure put a smile on me this dreary morning. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. Love the design. I don't blame the guy in the rear view for being irritated. The crazy things people do.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt! Love the color placement and your piecing is lovely! Your art quilt is super fun! The fabric truck is one of my favorite parts!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt. Got a chuckle out of the mascara chick.
ReplyDeleteNeat quilt. Cute, cute applique.
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny take with this fabric - love the clock appliques - clever idea. I do love your second quilt too, such a simple yet beautiful design in this color scheme.
